- Detailed Review:
- Performance:
The A10 Fusion chip was a powerhouse at iPhone 7 released. It was quicker and more power-efficient compared to its predecessor, iPhone 6s and it was really up to the mark with regards to running heavy apps and multitasking. Even years after launching, the phone still performed well when challenging it with newer apps.
Battery Life: With up to 14 hours of talk time, the iPhone 7 offered longer battery life. It also had longer battery life than the iPhone 6s despite having a battery of the same size thanks to the A10 Fusion chip’s efficiency.
- Display:
The iPhone 7 had a crisp and vibrant Retina HD display. The display (1334 x 750) is good for its size but not as crisp as newer generation models with Full HD or Super Retina display.
Other features included the True Tone display, which adjusted the device\’s white balance to match the colors of the ambient light, providing a more truer experience when viewing content on screen.
- Camera:
Rear Camera: The 12 MP camera was a big step up from the iPhone 6s, capturing sharp, detailed images with better low-light performance thanks to the f/1.8 aperture. It enabled Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), which reduced blur in photos — particularly useful, at least on paper, low light.
Front Camera: The front-facing camera got a major upgrade to 7 MP, providing more detail for both selfies and FaceTime calls.
In terms of video recording, the iPhone 7 could shoot 4K video at 30fps and 1080p at 60fps, which was great for video lovers.
- Design and Build Quality:
The design of the iPhone 7 was sleek, with a smooth aluminum unibody. Though it kept the same general look of past iPhones, it was sturdier, with an IP67 water and dust resistance rating, which meant it could withstand splashes and more limited exposure to water.
That time the Jet Black finish was particularly popular, but easily scratched and fingerprinted.
- Audio:
The most significant design alteration was the elimination of the 3.5mm earphone jack. While controversial, the company placed Lightning EarPods in the box when releasing the AirPods for wireless audio.
There was more low end, thanks to stereo speakers, and it was decidedly louder and more full than on the iPhone 6s.
- User Experience:
iOS: The phone shipped with iOS 10, and its software experience was smooth and stable. The home button was now a solid-state button with Taptic feedback for the first time, creating an unprecedented experience after years of the mechanical button which had become an industry standard.
That sensor is quick and accurate, letting you unlock the device in no time, and it works for quickly paying with Apple Pay.
- Pros:
Well Performance: Processing speed and smooth multitasking.
Camera: Terrific image and video quality, especially with low-light improvements.
Water Resistance: Dust and water resistant with an IP67 rating.
Decent battery life: up to 14 hours of talk.
Sound In Stereo: Twin aid with stereo system sound.
- Cons:
No 3.5mm Headphone Jack: The controversial removal of the headphone jack forced users to adjust to wireless headphones or use the Lightning port for audio.
Screen Resolution: Though the display was nice, it didn’t have the higher resolution and color vibrancy of newer iPhones.
Pricing: The iPhone 7 was, at launch, rather expensive for a phone with similar specs to some Android competitors.
- Final Thoughts:
The iPhone 7 was a huge leap forward in both performance and camera quality. It also brought a new design with water resistance, improved battery life, stereo speakers. The move to eliminate the headphone jack was controversial. The iPhone 7 was a great and reliable choice for users who were into the Apple ecosystem. It was a capable platform, even then, and is still today.
le phone for a lot of users, although it’s beginning to show its age with the newest iterations of iOS.
